7 of the Best House Plant Shops in London

Londoners love houseplants: online plant store Patch found through independent research that 67% of Londoners have bought at least one houseplant within the last 12 months.

Online house plant shopping clearly became a kind of national past time for millenials in particular, so, given that houseplants have become such an important part of the aesthetic of flats all around the capital (including my own), I've rounded seven of my favourite independent plant shops in London. (I kill a lot of plants, so I need a few options to restock from.)

Location: Arch 133, Deptford Railway Station, Deptford High St, London SE8 4NS

Forest is a shop transformed transform from a brick archway right by Deptford Station that sells a broad range of affordable houseplants and succulents, and their staff are really helpful.

They also sell some really adorable, really tiny finger-size plants, which I managed not to keep alive for quite a while...

2. CONSERVATORY ARCHIVES [3 locations]

Location 1: 493-495 Hackney Rd, Cambridge Heath, London E2 9ED

Location 2: 117 Upper St, The Angel, London N1 1AX

Location 3: 3-7 Lower Clapton Rd, Lower Clapton, London E5 0NS

The shop pictured above is what I aspire for my home to look like, but it could take a while to get to that level. All of Conservatory Archives shops are absolutely beautiful, offering tropical plants and cacti and succulents, and they also host a wide range of workshops (that are currently being held over Zoom).

3. CORNERCOPIA (2 locations)

Location 1: Brixton Village, Unit 37-38 Coldharbour Ln, Brixton, London SW9 8PR

Location 2: 63 Streatham Hill, Streatham, London SW2 4TX

In addition to all of their beautiful plants, cornercopia sells a range of other products including honey made in London, eco-friendly home goods, scented candles and bath and handmade mugs.

Location: 492 Kingsland Rd, Dalston, London E8 4AE

As you might've guessed from the name Prick exclusively sells cacti and succulents, and they also offer a range of nice pots, books for plant enthusiasts and beautiful gift cards.

Location: 320 Battersea Park Rd, Battersea, London SW11 3BX

Offering a huge selection of house and outdoor plants and pots over 2 greenhouses, Battersea Flower Station also offers a cute greetings card shop and an on-site florist.

Location: Church Lane, Petersham Rd, Church Lane TW10 7AB [The Covent Garden branch has sadly closed)

In addition to the beautiful displays at Petersham Nurseries, offering pottery and handmade crafts in addition to being a plant shop, the Richmond location is home to a Michelin star restaurant and a little vegan cafe. Both their plants and their food items are pretty expensive (from my experience, the most expensive on this list), but it makes for a nice afternoon out.

Location: 270 Cambridge Heath Road, E2 9DA

This is probably the prettiest shop I've come across in London, and in addition to their huge range of indoor plants, they also sold a lot of nice pots. They deliver throughout London.
